So, here is a another food activity from the past. The students received jelly beans which they had to sort, count, determine place value, compare, graph, etc.
The food comment is my cheeky memory of an administrator that said that she/he would get up and walk out on any interviewee that was doing the Skittles graphing lesson. I was so disappointed to hear that. Maybe it's because I believe you can teach most new teachers the content to deliver, however it is difficult to teach them how to manage a classroom and deliver the content. Oh, well...
