Idioms, Adages & Proverbs... Oh, My!
"worth your salt"
Origin: Salt used to be a very expensive commodity and was needed for preserving food. Roman soldiers received a salt allowance as part of their pay. Meaning: To say that someone is "worth his salt" is to say they have earned their pay. If something is worth its salt, then it is worth what you paid for it.
Adage/Proverb "there is more than one way to skin a cat" There is more than one way of achieving a goal; there is no one right way of doing something.
